This is a useless argument that goes in circles.
Both institutions offer alternative schools of study. It's all
about [b]CHOICE.
Just because LKY, aka the govt, issued the decree that the GCE 'A'
Lvl certificate would be the automatic passport into university,
many to this day still stereotype (absurbly) that polytechnics are
for losers and 2nd tier students.
This is absolute CRAP.
In fact, there are always at least 2 kinds of polytechnic
students:
Classification (1): those who CHOOSE to go polytechnics for a
specific specialisation.
Classification (2): those who HAVE NO CHOICE but to go
polytechnics.
It's obvious that item (2) are for those who performed badly; but
then again, which institution doesn't have such students? It's
naive to think that item (2) represents the majority of poly
students.
As for item (1), it illustrates a group of students who at a tender
age of 16, have already DECIDED upon their
path and are studying their course of interest and possibly, their
future career. What does that speak of their maturity and field of
thought?
On top of that, the top 5% of poly students are offered places in
the university and this allocation is set to rise in the future,
dispelling the myth that diplomas are the limit of their
education.
For those misguided few, please wake up. The world isn't square and
a school is what you make of it.

So what you are trying to say is, Those that cannot make it to
JC are stupid because they got no choice?
